How does MIM differ from conventional powder metallurgy processes?

Traditional PMS use unidirectional high pressure to press rough metal powder into a fixed position to make moderately complex devices. In particular, if its density is not further improved during the sintering process, this method produces density values between 80-90%, which limits its physical properties to become alloys. Due to the flexibility of MIM, the manufacture of complex products is not restricted. The fine metal powder combined with high temperature sintering enables the final product produced by MIM to reach a very high density. This allows MIM products to have similar properties to precision materials.
